Themes

Increasing engagement in healthcare questionnaires

Healthcare questionnaires, surveys, and intake forms are crucial in delivering high-quality care as they provide essential insights into patients' demographics, medical history, preferences, and experiences. However, traditional paper-based forms can lead to fatigue— resulting in inaccurate or incomplete data as well as reduced engagement in the process. To address this issue, a digital interface should be developed to efficiently process these forms (source: Link).

Challenge:

  • Can you design a digital interface that can take in any form or questionnaire and create an interactive gamified version to reduce user fatigue?

What we will give you:

  • Sample intake forms/other questionnaires in PDF and txt formats. Go to the resources section for the same.
Patient Timeline Visualization

Nowadays, digital healthcare records are essential, but understanding the vast amount of available data can be challenging for patients (source: Link).

Challenge:

  • Can you develop an efficient and aesthetically pleasing visualization that depicts a patient's history on a timeline accurately and efficiently?
  • Build a user-friendly dashboard that displays a comprehensive timeline of patients' medical history, including appointments, diagnoses, medications, and other important information.

What we will give you:

  • Patient History Data: We will supply anonymized patient health records in a structured format. The dataset will contain relevant medical history, lab results, diagnoses, treatments, and other essential health-related information. Go to the resources section for the same.

Generating Optimal Diagnosis Codes

ICD stands for "International Classification of Diseases," and ICD codes are a standardized system used by healthcare professionals to classify and identify various medical conditions, injuries, and diseases. These codes are essential for medical recordkeeping, billing, and research purposes.

Challenge:

  • Develop predictive models to recommend optimal procedure and diagnoses codes for insurance coverage, preventing undercoding – a practice where codes don't fully reflect services provided, leading to reduced reimbursements and limited patient access to care (source: Link) and upcoding - a practice where codes reflect more serious (and more expensive) diagnoses or procedures than the provider actually diagnosed or performed.

What we will give you:

  • Patient history data (visit the resources section for the same) and a list of (ICD10) codes.
Clinical Summary Challenge

Often, physicians need to quickly review a chart and history before meeting with a patient. The presentation of a clinical summary can impact the efficiency of a physician. Ref: Link

Challenge:

Can you develop an efficient and intelligent summary of key patient history and current data— either in visual form on a single table/panel, or in text/spoken form? (Participants should consider relevance of recent data and trends in the patient's medical records to capture the key information).

If in text/spoken format, provide the option to present the summary in different durations: 1 minute (100 words), 2 minutes (200 words), and 5 minutes (500 words). The word and time limits are approximate. Additionally, the solution should support text-to-speech functionality to enable verbal presentation of the summary.

If in visual format, build a user-friendly graphic/table of clinical summary

What we will give you:

Patient History Data: We will supply anonymized patient health records in a structured format, for three patients, over a course of time. The dataset will contain relevant medical history, lab results, diagnoses, treatments, and other essential health-related information. Go to the resources section to obtain this data.
